The game has its ups and downs.
We have more players. We have a lot of more exciting deck options and ninja to play. However A LOT of stuff has been power creeped. There are still very little cards from Set 1-8 that are playable. (At least Ninja-wise) |

Temari WS/WP are the only ninjas at this point playable in most decks. Rock Lee HSM sees some play in Tai decks. Kiba MBC/Aka P just for squading and mill. Naruto Legacy for people scared of Sasuke CTS, CoP for those who aren't. Gaara Convo for Shukaku decks. That's about it I believe. No ninja past turn 1 at least except for Temari WP and Gaara...IP? Did that come out in BoD?

The game has flux moments when a set is being released, but the game itself is quiet unless your player base is really into playing.
The sets themselves usually out play the last sets. Which, bandai is making some decent decisions in rarities, like making really good cards that can last, rares. Or reprinting supers they think will be viable. |

And at bolded: If we're going for specific decktypes there're also some of the State 2 Ninjas in a State 2 build, and Gamabunta HitGW in Toads if you aren't running the platoon. |

I don't know where you played, but that wasn't the EA meta. Medical was clearly the deck to beat in terms of raw power, and even then the meta was fairly balanced (post 3 shino/2 sealing barrier). Alot of tier 1.5 decks like Fire, Hand Control, NvS, and Fire/X were very good and easily capable of winning tournements.
