I send out my N-us016 to battle and my opponent blocks with there own N-us016 i pass priority to my opponent for effects my opponent responses using n-us016.

what i dont understand is how do i lose my window of opportunity since we are still in the battle and opposed phase of battle? since battle is attacking or defending i assume it should be able to respond to another battle and opposed effect or what the heck is the point of the chaining system ?

unless you wanted to make it to where the opponent has all priority over the battle phase (with the exception of EoJ)

so basically what im asking is for an explanation to what the order the battle phases happen in since battle and opposed have its own single timing during the battle phase

your initial question has to do with the Send out Step.

if each player could pass until the other player does something, both could pass in waiting for one or the other to activate their effects, and the game would just not go anywhere and time out.

so, the ruling is that the Attacker chooses to put their effect on the Chain first. if they pass, then the Timing for the effect has passed. then, pass or activate, the Blocker chooses to put their effect on the Chain.

what im getting at i always thought the game mechanics made it so a situation like the one above can be avoided since if both players pass consecutively then you move on to the next step or phase.

yes, but if the Attacker were to pass, and the Blocker were to activate his effect, the Attacker would attempt to activate theirs, saying that they are still at the Timing, which they are not.

as you note, when both players pass without doing anything, the game moves on. but there is a good chance that isn't going to occur.

i guess it defeats the purpose of priority for the turn player then

thank you for the ruling =(
