Ya too bad it was, becuase there won't be any new Naruto for like five weeks considering this Saturday is double Zatch Bell and One Piece taking both of Naruto's slots after that is a month of Miyazaki (which isn't half bad but there's still no Naruto)

Ah, man! That sucks! Looks like it's just FMA (two more episodes!), GitS:SAC 2nd GIG, and Inuyasha for me for a while. Well, Miyazaki movies are absolutely amazing, too, so that's still something to watch. I just wish they wouldn't cut into Naruto...

And by the way, the episode aired last week was a recap episode, which probably would have been better aired after this five-week break, that in Japan was aired as a 2-episode hour long special in Japan, with the next episode coming right after, so it didn't feel like a total waste of time over there. Really, that episode was a waste of 30 minutes of life...

It's an unfortunate fact of life that many Japanese cartoons include at least one recap/filler episode. The reasons usually go like this:

1. It saves time and money. They don't have to create as much new animation.

2. If the studio is in danger of running up against deadlines, the filler episode gives them a little breathing room to work ahead but still put something in the time slot.

3. It can be helpful to new viewers, and even ongoing viewers who've maybe forgotten things over time.

I forgot to mention that in my previous post, though that is the main reason besides giving the studio a break/some breathing room, I believe. ^^
