Yamanaka is her first name. The Americans were stupid and switched it around because apparently american viewers arent smart enough to determine the surname from the personal name. Americans ruin everything anime.

Yamanaka is her last name I believe in japan they say the last name first and the first name as the last name...

No, Americans say the last name first and the first name last. Japanese say the last name last and the first name first. Thats why its first and last, not the other way around.

But thats confusing, so to clear things: Ino is her personal name, Yamanaka is her clan/surname.

Actually that makes sense, so yea, I am going to agree...

in a direct translation, naruto's first name wuld be Uzumaki and his last name wuld be naruto. in japan the clan/surname is said as the first name and the personal name is said as the last name

well if theyre saying uzumaki naruto, its not really last-first, since uzumaki is being said first, and naruto is being said last.

I will use my chinese name to clear stuff, and chinese name are similar to japanese.

My chinese name is:
Last: Chan
First: Ho Nam

In Hong Kong, people call me Chan Ho Nam, but in the US, some people calle me Ho Nam Chan. So this is might be the same for Japan.

Well if its "Chan Ho Nam", then youre saying Chan first, so thats your first name, which we here call last name. So the point im trying to make is saying "first" and last" causes confusion, which is why you should say that your surname is Chan, personal name is Ho Nam, and Chan is your last name here but first in Chinese.

Your "first" and "last" thing make people confuse, people don't know if u mean first and last by the sequence or by last name as in family name and first name as own name. And your mixing it up. As in US point of view, japanese's last name as in family goes first and the personal name go after it.
