OMG Gaara hands down. Not only is his power insane but he will never see Itachi's eyes (Dont want to spoil it for peopel who dont know what Itachi's eyes do.) Then lets say that Gaara gets Ko'd his inner beast will wake up and just wreak him. But that would be an epic battle.

Gaara. Why? He shares consciousness with Shukaku, and since Itachi usually relies on Tsukiyomi which attacks the mind, he has something more powerful than him to deal with when he uses it. 2 consciousnesses>one consciousness.

No, that's after the time jump...That's why SPOILER Gai's and Kakashi's team were sent out to retrieve him. Also, considering Itachi uses Genjutsu and Deidara used explosive Ninjutsu, both are completely different and work different ways.

Itachi couldn't deal with Shukaku. But Gaara alone, possibly...Gaara rarely lets anyone close to him for Itachi's type of attacks.
