that's not entirely true, he was unconcious and shukaku was about to possess him and kill sasuke, but kankuro and temari were worried if he transformed he would disrupt the mission, so they carried him away, eventually, he did transform, and he beat sasuke, but naruto came and beat the shukaku using boss gama

no its just when he was little his mom died well i think he killed her but i dont know and his dad,kazekage,made a seal where the sand will always protect him and he even tried to kill himself and the sand protected him ao and more;
his care-taker said he loved him then in the night Yashamaru,caretaker,snuck up on him in hidden clothes and threw lots ok kunai at him but the sand protected him but he didnt know it was Yashamaru yet and then he killed him and then he unmasked him as the caretaker who said he loved him but tried to kill him

Anyway personally I think Gaara is a fairly cool character. Yes he has issues, but look at what he went through when he was a kid. I personally think that it was his battle with Naruto that helped begin the changes that we see later in the series.

Gaara appeared to be nothing more than a twisted killer when you first see him, which I liked and disliked at the same time. It is grand to see him coming along in the series though. For me, he went from an okay character, to most sincere IMO. I liked the man (though I've read up to date on the manga so I may know a little more than others. Didn't want to go to far into it either and spoil the goodness.)

A time skip, as the term applies, is when a certain period of time is "skipped" or is not shown. In Naruto the most significant timeskip is 2.5 years. That was the amount of time that was skipped and is what people refer to when saying time skip..and the story continued from there.

Edit: Personally I like Gaara, with or without Shukaku. His sand wont act on its own but he can still control it.

Naruto says "Belive it" after every sentence in the english versions. The Japanese anime with english subtitles is better. The English and Japanese versions cannot be the same with dialog because the mouths of the characters will not be with the words..so some editing of dialog is done.
