IM watching Naruto on Cartoon Network right now! Although the volume is glitchy, Toonami has used the Asian Kung Fu Generation's "Haruka Kanata" For American Naruto! Today is a great day indeed!

(Today is Jiraiya's first full episode too, I dont get it, but oh well.)

Ha. I was just about to make this thread. No surprise you beat me to it, TLNK-Sensei. I just finished watching Naruto, and I love the japanese theme, I have never heard it before. As for Jiraya, he seems awesome as well, and to make things better, not only is he a Sannin(I new that) but he is also the author of Icha-Icha Paradice, haha. I totally love it!!!

Oh the voice. What can I say. I was about to hate the voice, but it grew on me, then in a few lines it makes him sound too young but american, but then sometimes the voice is perfectly hilarious. Bottom line: meh?

(And I did say that I posted this while watching it. I wasnt kidding. ;))

For one reason or another, I just found the way he said "Oh please!" when Ebisu went after him extremely cool. Right you are, he does sound a little american and high-pitched at times, but it is a lot better than they could have made it. Now, you may or may not be able to answer this, but why was the Hokage sending ninja to look for Jiraya, as Ebisu stated at the end of the episode? Did he want him arrested, or just to see him for tea and crumpets?

Orochimaru was in fact in Konoha during the 2nd Chuunin exams (As much as they know) so they wanted another one of the three Legendary Sannin back. Jiraiya is one of those. Im pretty sure this is the reason, and the real one was never stated, but it is obvious by what Ebisu says, and that Jiraiya is a legendary sannin. And Hokage is old.

Not really just a little observation based off knowing more than what you do, but not something you couldnt have figured out if you watch that episode a few more times.

Hmm, that makes perfect sence. ***I suppose they could have just as easily looked for Tsunade, but they probably used Jiraya due to the fact that he just made his appearence, and they wouldn't want to spoil it. I don't really no anything about Tsunade, just that she is the other Sannin and sumons slugs.***

I was starting to wonder if they would change the theme or not, bravo for getting one thing right. I'm still not completly happy with the voice. Sometimes it fits and other times... not quite. Oh well at least it doesn't outright suck.

I think with the theme, it has to do with negotiations with the Japanese artist, and not the production company.

Yes, licensing fees can be a nightmare.

For example, when Bandai released the DVD set for the series "Zeta Gundam" they couldn't afford to pay theme song writer's (Neil Sedaka, yes, THAT Neil Sedaka) fees, so they had to change the opening for the series.

I never kept pace with any Gundam series, but I enjoyed G Gundam quite a lot. Seed and Wing were alright, but G was great.

Yeah, it's actually a really good jazz-ish song too. I think the rumor is that he wrote it, and the mysterious singer who actually sang it is his daughter. the change PO'ed a LOT of people.

Do you think the 3rd theme will be next for the fourth season, or will they just do what they can and get GO!? GO! seems like one of the more popular ones, but I like Seishun KyokuKyoso (sp?) better. I dont know. Their unusual placement and order makes it hard to predict.

I know right when they played the Beginning song "Haruka Kanata" on CN, that this thread would enter the forum. xD

I've seen all the episodes on CN, I'm up to about 1-160 and 190-201, so I'm aware of all the different theme songs. In fact, I have a large portion of them on my mp3-player. =D

Jiraiya's voice was interesting, but a little too young, and certain things weren't expressed correctly by the voice actor... I'm sure they would act it out correctly if they saw the Japanese episodes. =/
