View Full Version : How will sets be done?

One thing I'm wondering about this game is how they are going to do sets. Are they going to go by sagas like the old game, or are they just throwing random cards with pictures from every saga in and calling it a set?
It's probably the latter but it would be interesting to hear other opinions.

So far, its looking to be "random" since they have Frieza and Cell in the same set, and also promise Dragonball cards. And then future sets will have GT cards, too. But I think they might go with theme sets, I dunno what the themes could be, but thats what I think might happen.

if they go by theme then what if top tier becomes decks based around the newest sets theme instead of diversity.
that would kinda ruin the game imo

that won't happen the past cards will not just go away when a new set is realsed.

that's not what i meant, i just mean that as theme sets come up, i hope that decks based around that theme will not be the only top tier.
I never mentioned anything about cards going away o.O

I know but when new themes get realesed the old themes will still be there and still be effctive. I don't see why just becuse a new theme is made that old themes will not be as good.

I think when I said theme, you are thinking to small, like one deck. They would never release a set, with 100 or more cards only for one deck. Ok, I will give an example of what a theme might be. The afterlife could be a theme, I think Goku and others go there through out all 3 shows(maybe not in DB). But a large theme, that takes place in all the 3 shows(atleast in later sets, since they will at GT).
But again, that was just a idea, I know they are not going to do saga, because of the first set. So, if anything, it will just be "random".

The starter decks will undoubtedly be themed in the aspect that they are based around Goku. In the Goku starter you will definatley get support cards for goku and many of his techniques. Same for Frieza.

That makes no sense. How can the packs be themed? What is in the packs is random based on the division of rarities set by bandai.

here what I mean
1st set: Random
2nd set: android and alien theme
3rd set: transformations
thats what I am getting at, lie each set will have some theme to go around.

Ah, that makes sense. It would be kinda unbalanced though. I think it would be best if they attempted to balance the sets out. I do like the idea of having emphasis on certain card types though. Transformations could be one of those.

why this way the game does not have to end when the anime ends plus you get to use characters like buu and the shadow dragons sooner.

I am not saying to end it the way they end the anime...I just would think that they would release characters in the way of sets/seasons and when they got to the end or when everyone was created, just make newer versions. Either way, the game should be awesome

yeah but then they will run into a problem of balancing out drops. Just Imagine making radditiz a 6 drop but later in the series making a buu a six drop what since will that make. Going in random order helps them make the game true to the series.

My feelings exactly. If we don't follow the order of the series then we can create a character at anytime and we can re-create characters at anytime. If we need another Goku in another 'element' then we can create another Goku from the same saga in that 'element'.

I wonder how the cards will be able to power up (meaning goku to super saiyan 1/2/3/4) or if you will just be able to use supersaiyan cards without powering up

Based on the hand cost system and the turn counters I would assume that you wouldn't power up and you would be able to play these versions of the characters during later turns. There is another topic that discusses tranformations such as these. Many good ideas have been mentioned such as the use of dragonballs to transform and platoons being treated as transformations. If you want to discuss this I reccomend you dig-up a topic called "transformations".

my theory is that dragonballs or growth systems will play a part in banz.
