I may design a old z deck just to kill some time for this game to come out.

Berlu, Baz and I are the dbz mods on toptiergaming. We are holding dbz and gt tournaments online, and making virtual card sets to keep the game changing so it's still fun to play.
Until the online tournaments get a good amount of people entering I don't think toptier will hold any real dbz tournaments.
If you want to get the rest of the old z and gt ultra rares and promos then the best place is either ebay or on dbz trading forums.
Although I don't think you are going to be able to get ki intensity =P. Only 15 in the world and I think all are owned by collectors who wont sell them... I know I'm never going to get rid of my one unless someone offers me a lot for it.

That's awesome that you are keeping the game alive through online play. If you guys are really making a conscious effort to keep it going then I would definately be willing to play online.

It would be great if people brought out their old Z stuff for fun. In a bigger DragonBall CCG tournament, someone could easily organize a side tournament with the Old Z cards. I don't see any official tournaments coming out of this due to the fact that there are no new sets being created. However, I do believe that it would be fun to play the game in a tournamnet every now and then.

If I do happen to pick up the new DragonBall CCG, and there is interest for old z tournaments at any events I do attend, I wouldn't mind organizing them, as well as money events for the new DragonBall CCG.

In conjunction with entry for a tournament, and sponsors, then yes, we would be able to do nice money tournaments for the new DB CCG as we did for the old game.

I can see us reasonably doing:

1st Place - $250
2nd Place - $100
3rd/4th Place -$50

And if at bigger conventions, with much more interest, we could easily double those amounts. This would, of course, also be dependent on attendance and interest.

I can't argue with that logic :P It appears the majority of people who are posting on this thread wish to play the Old Z games again. Who are we to deny them? If there is a demand this large then we should definately try to get something going at larger events.

I think the best way for dbz tournaments to start being held again is to first enter online tournaments to show that there is still a decent amount of intrest in the game. If the online tournaments don't get many people entering, even though these people can play from anywhere in the world, then I would expect real tournaments where people would have to travel to get there would have even less people.
Also playing online is free and you can use whatever cards you want, so if you don't have a large collection of old dbz/gt cards (or even have none at all) you can still play the game and do good in the online tournaments.

I do believe you are correct about that, Kamiccolo. Building an online playerbase should definately take presedence over a real life playerbase. I can definately see a large playerbase being created through online play. However, I really cannot bring myself to the possibility that there will be enough interest in this game at a convention to hold a large scale tournament. It might be possible if you had a registration prior to the convention and had many people pre-register.

Tell them to join toptiergaming and enter the online dbz tournaments. It's the best way for us to get real tournaments for the old game started again (big tournaments, not just small local ones). And even if it doesn't, you still get to play against a lot more players than you normally would at local tournaments.

None of Score's cards will work with Bandai's cards. They may be based on the same show but they are 2 completely different card games. If you still want to use score's dbz cards then go to toptiergaming and play in their online tournaments.

Yeah, I'm not sure where DragonFist pulled that idea from. If the games were compatible it really wouldn't be fair as a completed game versus a new game would leave one game a huge disadvantage. Not to mention they would have to have similar engines. We all know that Bandai would never take the engine of a rival company such as SCORE. It would be business suicide. Bandai would basically be saying that SCORE can design a much better engine than they could.

yeah and it would suck becuse it will be overwelming to new players if they think they have to collect all the old cards to.

Yeah, I wouldn't play if that were the case for the exact reason you suggested above. Another reason would be that I would have to learn all the decks of the past and all the rulings / erratas.

Still man. When you start a new game the people who are purchase product from the beginning expect to be as informed as the next person who is beginning the new game. If they made it compatible with the SCORE version then that wouldn't be able to hold true. Honestly, I believe it would be quite unfair for players who would like to begin playing fresh as it is a new game and not an old one.

What score did when they released GT was make 2 formats. Expanded format was the old dbz cards and the new gt cards included. Focused format was GT cards only. So any new players could just play gt only. If they really liked it and maybe wanted to play expanded format as well then they could, but during the time it would take for them to learn about expanded they could still do good in the new focused format.

I wasn't making any references to any game. I was speaking with a general view of new CCG's.

yeah I remember score doing that but I think after this long it was the best to start from scratch and make there own game.
