I just noticed some places entry fee are different. This is what's getting me somewhat confused. One place I see near me has an entry fee of 25 dollars. The launch kit comes with 8 starters for people to be given, the first 8 who spend $20 or more, and promo cards and such. What I don't understand is why are we paying such an expensive entry cost and not getting anything. I could understand if we were getting cards but where not. Maybe some stores are just doing it to earn money. I don't know at the moment and I'm just curious about it because for other games entry fees for launches were between 10-15 dollars, and regular Tournaments 5-8 and we actually got product. I'd rather just buy more cards for the game instead of blowing $25 dollars on an entry fee for this launch and getting less cards, and then just participate in the local tournaments afterwards.
you get a starter deck and booster's for paying that much

I thought that the Launch kit only came with 8 starters to be given to the first 8 who purchase $20 or more. Or does the store hand out starters and Boosters from there regular amount of product that they received? So your saying if I was to just spend $25 dollars on product, I would get the same amount of product if I entered the Launch party, or would I get less?

you should evrey relese event so far that i now of you get a starter deck and 4 booster's to builde deck with and winner get's money ore store credit or why would anybody pay 25 dollars to get a starter deck and play for fun

The originally announced launch event stated the following:

- Casual Play Tournament (meaning not sealed deck, but just whatever you construct, and you will play for fun)
- FREE entry (because you aren't supposed to be getting product for entering, you are supposed to buy product and then play people)
- FREE promos (not packs, just the promos)
- FREE Starter Deck if you purchase $20 or more worth of product. (The starters aren't for a tournament, just for people who want to buy the packs or decks)

At my venue we are doing exactly what was announced, following the above guidelines. We may run a draft for fun, and for that we will need to buy packs, but the focus will be the casual play, so as not to intimidate newcomers.

Every store is given 8 starters to give out to people who spend $20 or more. That is different from the launch events they are holding.

At the store i go to we are going to have a $25 entry fee in which you get a starter and 3 booster packs plus prizes. The store i go to will probably give away booster packs as prizes other store sometimes do money and store credit like someone posted above.

So you spent $25 to get 1 starter, 3 boosters, and the chance to win more boosters (prizes depend on the amount of people that enter.). so as example First place could get (prizes) 6 boosters, second could get 4, third could get 3, and everyone else could get like 1 more booster.

When entering a release touny it sometimes would be cheaper to just buy the stuff, but remember that tournaments have prizes and the store has to pay for them.

Hopefully one of the other venues near me is doing what there supposed to be doing instead of putting up unreasonable entry fee's. Thanks for the help, its very much appreciated.

so is it just one of the following? Cause my launch store only has starter decks, and if you buy $20 worh of starter decks, you get a pack of promo cards. They are not getting any boosters in. Is this happening to anyone else?

No, it is supposed to be all of the following. What your store is doing is very strange.

Yea, it's a shrink wrap pack of one of the 7 characters that are the super deformed promos if you buy $20 worth of starter decks. The guy says they are getting packs within the next week though, is that too late to take advantage of the $20 deal?

Yep, those promos are supposed to be for the casual play tournaments. This is from a Bandai booth at a convention showing off the game:

I don't know where these people get off doing it a different way than Bandai had planned. Those promos are clearly for 7 weeks of free casual play tournaments, and the starters are, as very clearly stated, for spending $20 or more dollars on DBCCG packs and starters. I don't know why your store didn't order booster packs, that seems very strange to me.

My store doesn't even know any of the rules yet, since they play naruto and there's only a few rules they'll need to look up, they're just going to read the rules last minute pretty much and ask me if they need help. =/

Launch stuff is basically just play people around for fun and get free promos, meaning buy 2-3 structures, get another, than make a deck to play people.

It's going to be hard to get the cards we'll need for the decks, considering if you want to play a deck you'll need 3x of this super, and 3x of that. Next week I'll probobly just buy some packs and either trade DBCCG stuff for DBCCG stuff, trade Naruto for DB, or just buy some of the cards for cheap considering they don't really know what's good or not yet. I'm just going to be getting the basic cards at first like staples: T0 goku's, ranfan's, etc.
The only guaranteed supers I'm buying are 3 Frieza FF's, so at least the hard part is out of the way.
