It's a promotion thru Bandai. They send the store extra starters for free that they're to give out when someone buys $20 or more of DB CCG product.

This is a terrible idea. The promotion is attempting to promote the game by making it easier to start playing through free starters with a $20 purchase. You are attempting to get several starters for yourself out of the limited supply of 8 per store, and thus losing potential players. One free starter is all you need, don't take away from the others. =/

Indeed. I think one free starter is enough for anyone. The more players the better for everyone, including the guy that decides only to take 1 of the free starters. :)

And most stores will probably limit the free starters to 1 per person to start with. I imagine it'd be up to the store's discretion.

You could get a friend of family member to come with you and spend the other $20 to get the 2nd free starter.
And don't feel bad about taking starters away from other people, if you get there first and are willing to pay the money for the cards then you should be able to get them. If bandai wanted lots of people to play they should have sent stores more packs. I'm sure if the stores run out of product quickly they will order more.

You are looking at the situation from purely a capitalist point of view. You forget that it isn't just about the single person making a purchase, or the store getting money - we are attempting to support a community of players who will then support the game directly. There isn't a problem financially speaking, no, but you are taking away something that was sent for the sole purpose of launching the game and getting more players.

If bandai wanted lots of people to play they should have sent stores more packs. I'm sure if the stores run out of product quickly they will order more.

Are you seriously suggestion that Bandai should have chosen to lose even MORE money by sending lots and lots of free packs and starters to launch he game? It's astounding that they chose to send an item (the box of starters) worth around $100 for free to venues across the country, but you suggest that they send even more? Beyond that, by saying, "If bandai wanted to get players they would have done such and such," you are suggesting that Bandai sent free boxes of starters to stores for a different reason or no reason at all. Why do you think they did it? It certainly wasn't so one person could bring his 7 brothers and sisters, give them $20 each, and reap the rewards for himself.

Look, let me just reiterate my point: This isn't about being fair in purchasing product, first come, first serve is totally fine. However, you have to care less about your personal gain and more about the game community, otherwise you won't have any tournaments to play in. And with no tournaments and no competition, the card game because essentially a waste of time. I don't mean to put myself on a pedestal here, but I gave up my tournament-playing ability to be a Meijin and help get this game going strong, and I just feel that to really get it popular, we need more people to make sacrifices like this - like giving up the extra free starter deck so another player can get a start on the game.

Chill, capitalism is a good thing, especially in the situation our country is in. Free starters probably lure people in and I garuantee you they will be making a profit from packs afterwards. If they were sending free packs too, I think they are sending stores 16 starters, 8 for purchase and 8 for free give aways. The free ones are extra and in no way taking away new players. First come, first serve. Samething with the pack trick. IF you have the money to pay and are there first, you are entitled to as many starters as you like.

Sorry I didn't know Bandai was sending all the stores free packs, I agree they shouldn't send more free product.

If stores run out of packs quickly they will order more. So buying multiple packs and taking advantage of the free pack offer will not prevent others from getting cards. Other people may just have to wait a little longer to get their packs. Buying multiple packs will ensure that the store sells out quickly, which will make them want to order more.

It's not up to the players to make sacrifices for the community. It's Bandai's game and it's up to them to try and make this game popular with a large community of players.
There's not going to be any less people playing just because you bought an extra pack of cards. If someone else really wants to buy cards as well then they should either get to the store earlier, or wait until the store orders more packs.

Yea like JaniGreen said be4, Bandai is giving these starters away for free (just 1 box) and they really don't have 2 send any. They could've done it the traditional way; buy it yourself.
