How do you think Bandai should go about advertising the game?

Naruto has been big so far, and they have AD for it. So, if they do the same, I think they will do well.

they need to advertise in Mag TV, and maybe in Naruto packs as well.

it is also the responsabilty for the members to help spread the game as well like I mention in this thread.

Just because someone doesn't post on the forum doesn't mean they don't know about the game. I have told many people about the new DB game. Most do not post and talk on gaming forums, but they will play the game. (This is in response to your linked thread)

lol I did not say that if they did not post on the thread then they don't play or know about the game, what I was saying is to help get the word to ppl who do not know about the game.

But your other thread, which I was responding to. Says that you wanted everyone one to get someone to get a new person on the forum to double the number of people.

If they advertise in Shonen Jump and other CCG magazines such as Scyed and others then this game should get the boost it need right out of the gate to keep it going long term.

Release the game for one.

And its not gonna be like a YGO commercial on TV or anything. YGO doens't even get much TV time...

its probably only gonna be in SJ.

It will get more coverage than Shonen Jump. It's DragonBall, I'm sure many established card magazines will want to get a piece of this game.

since it's dragon ball they have all kinds of ways to advertise, although as always dragonball's true strength is word of mouth.

I think they should put advertisments in the Naruto TCG packs, that will help alot.

One or Two pages is all it takes for someone to flip through the pages of the magazine and notice that the game exists. If it catches the readers interest then they will read the article on the page. If the readers reads the article then their interest will skyrocket. A lot can be accomplished with one or two pages ;)

Ads for CCG's are only one page showing a picture of a box or a pack...
That won't get attention for the CCG except letting people know there is one.

Articles =/= Ads...Ads are paid for the company to show off its product to the general public...

Articles from CCG magazines critique the game whether its good or not or maybe for something else, like strategys or something. Since we are talking about ads as said by in the title the only times we'll see them are in SJ or maybe a CCG magazine. I doubt that'll get much attention. However articles might but we aren't talking about them.

Unless the ad provides an article then i apologize, but I never saw that in an ad in my life.

Yeah, I completely understand what you are talking about. There are definately a lot of advertisements out there which only depict the newest set for a CCG. I suppose what this is really boiling down to is how we define advertisement. Dictionary.com defines 'Advertisement' as such;

The action of making generally known; a calling to the attention of the public
OR
A paid announcement, as of goods for sale, in newspapers or magazines, on radio or television, etc.

Based on that, I assume that a small article or column regarding a CCG would be considered advertisement. Attention is usually drawn to the article by large font saying something similar to "New DragonBall CCG" and several card images. The reader is initially drawn to the page by the large font which is advertising the game. If the reader is interested in DragonBall or CCG's then they will pick-up on that and will proceed to examine the page which will lead them to the article. The article will definately promote the game, which is another form of advertisement, and potentially pull the reader into a mind-frame where they will buy the game.

That's my take on this. I could be wrong, you could be right, or we could both be equally right ^^ I'd prefer to think that we both have some good points and if we combine our views, we will reach an appropriate answer. :o

We tried to get a preview article for TopTierGaming.com, but were declined. This would have been awesome advertising, especially to the original DBZ CCG players that were potentially interested.

You'd have to assume that although TT is a large gaming community, they must prove themselves more worthy of support from Bandai than all the other websites and forums. SCORE was once all-for TT, however this is a new company and with that comes a new age and possibly a new website for DB CCG players to call their home.

I believe that, at this point, Bandai is better off advertising their product in mainstream magazines that a lot of forum goers read. When a couple of sets have been released, Bandai should then expand into another forum community to build their game even further.

Yeah, I can agree with that. It is Bandai's Collectable Card Game. They put in the work to create every aspect of the game. Therefor, they should be allowed to do as they please with their advertisements without question from the general public.
