View Full Version : Double Battle Rules -- Crossover Edition
Hey everyone, Snow here!
I don't know how many are aware, I don't believe many, but Jawaan and I have been working on "Double Battle" rules in attempt to get the format placed into Bandai's lineup. So far, we've playtested with many individuals who have really liked this game. We've taken our original 2v2 concept, of two dragonball teams facing one another, and adapted it into a 2v2 format for Crossover! One Dragonball Player and One Naruto player team up, to take on other Dragonball-Naruto teams! What's great about this format? NO BAN LISTS. The rogue lists have been slightly modified, but there are not many rogued cards, either.:
We've not been guaranteed by Bandai that this format is going into rotation. Yet. We need your help! Please post here if you enjoyed this game (I'm sure you will). If you have found a problem with it, please send me a private message, so that I can playtest this particular problem and see if the rules need to be changed to adjust for it.
The Dragonball version of these 2v2 rules have been proven to be very popular! I hope to say the same for the crossover edition!
Also, a Naruto only version is going to come out for these rules, but we don't have them finished yet! I'll post all three versions of the rules when this is all said and done.
Once again, please post how you feel about this game here! If we get enough positive feedback, I feel that this format will become a new format at tournaments!
What is really awesome about this game, is that it will really appeal to both new players, and old players alike! You don't have to be so competitive, as you are playing with a friend at your side. Additionally, it is a really good format to use to pull your friends who aren't playing, into the game! Just partner them up with you, and you can help them along the way as you play.
Anyways, I've said enough, I hope you've read all this. Please, test this game out at your locals, you won't be disappointed!
Dragonball CCG + Naurto Crossover
“Double Battle” Rules
Basics:
• All Dragonball CCG + Naruto CCG rules apply, except the following adjustments.
• All “Crossover” rules apply, except the following.
• Naruto decks are still set at 50 cards. Dragonball decks are still set at 40 cards.
• When one player loses, both players lose (on that team)
• Mental Power and Adventure Battle are both allowed.
• Adventure Battle always overrides Mental Power.
• All sets (1-13) are legal for Naruto. Please view rogue list for all restricted cards from both card games. No cards from either set are banned.
• Earth Chakra cannot be used to pay for Earth Events or Techniques or Warrior Effects from Dragonball.
• Earth Chi cannot be used to pay for Earth Missions or Jutsus or Ninja Effects from Naruto.
• “Double Battle” matches are made of two teams, Team A and Team B. Team A holds players A and C, while Team B holds players B and D.
o At the beginning of the match, a designated representative from each team will decide who will be Team A (Team A goes first). This can be determined by a coin flip, dice roll, etc.
• Turn Rotation is as follows: Player A - Player B - Player C - Player D. In that order.
o Player D is the first player with the ability to attack, much like the second player in normal DBCCG, or Naruto CCG format.
• Your “team’s” field of warriors/ninjas is community. The following rules apply:
o No team can have more than one warrior/ninja with the same name out at the same time.
• Each player has individual turn counter, chi/chakra area, planet, fusion /reinforcement deck, and hand.
o Discussion between teammates of their cards in hand, dragonball placement, warrior/ninja ability and technique/jutsu usage is all allowed. However, discussions can not be used as a deliberate stall for additional time.
• Teams can be organized in a form using both teammates’ warriors/ninjas.
• Naruto CCG’s Ninjas and Dragonball CCG’s warriors can be placed in the same team. However, the limit of 3 warriors/ninjas per team still exists. A team can only hold a combination of 3 Warriors/Ninjas.
• Teams can be organized on each player’s turn.
• The effects of cards that affect “both players” are changed to affect “all players”.
o I.E. M-302 Funeral of the Living gives the effect: “Discard every Ninja card in both player’s Chakra area.” Please keep in mind that Chakra = Chi, and Ninja = Warrior
Techniques/Jutsus:
• When a technique targets an opponent, as opposed to an opposing Warrior or Ninja, the user of the technique must delegate which opponent they are targeting.
• After declaring an attack, both teams can discuss which (if any) techniques/jutsus to be used from either player’s hand. However, the following rules apply:
o The player who the technique belongs to must be able to meet chi/chakra requirements. The target user must also meet all requirements.
The user of a technique does not have to belong to the player, as long as it is a warrior/ninja on the team (who meets all requirements).
o The attacking team has priority to use a technique from either player’s hand.
• Dragonball Techniques have no turn cost.
• Since Dragonball Warriors have no Rank, they can not use jutsus that require Rank, nor can they be affected by techniques that target Rank.
Warriors/Ninjas:
• The Deployment Area/Village is community. As such, no two warriors/ninjas with the same name can reside on the deployment area at the same time.
o I.E. Player A and C cannot both deploy a warrior with the name ‘Goku’
• Turn costs are individual, and you can only deploy a warrior with a turn cost equal or less than your current turn marker.
• Both players have use of warrior/ninja effects on the field, however, and individual warrior’s effect can only be used once a turn, unless otherwise stated.
o I.E. If player A plays Piano, player C can activate the warrior effect, but player A cannot additionally use that warrior effect until the end of the current turn. The user of a warrior/ninja’s effect must be the one to pay the chakra/chi cost.
• Since Dragonball warriors do not have a Ninja “level” (Genin, Jonin, etc.), they are unaffected by all effects that target such. Dragonball warriors are NOT designated as “No Rank” rather, unaffected by “rank”.
o I.E. Any card that targets “All Ninjas Genin or lower” would NOT affect Dragonball Warriors.
o I.E. Any card that targets “All Ninjas Genin or higher” would NOT affect Dragonball Warriors.
o Dragonball warriors cannot use any techniques that require a ninja level. Nor can they be affected by techniques that require a ninja level.
• When a warrior's effect targets an opponent, as opposed to an opposing Warrior or Ninja, the user of the effect must delegate which opponent they are targeting.
• When a warrior's effect target's a Ninja or Warrior, which then affects an opponent, the effect would be applied towards the owner of the Ninja or Warrior.
o I.E. N-630 Yoroi Akado gives the effect: "When this Ninja is sent out to Attack, select 1 of your opponent's Ninjas. In that case, during this turn and the next turn, when that Ninja is sent out to battle, you can discard up to 2 of their Chakras." Due to the fact that you must first choose an opponent's Ninja, ownership would fall into play, so whoever that Ninja/Warrior belongs to would be the individual to lose Chakra.
• Dragonball warriors are not affected by poison coins.
Events/Missions:
• When an event targets an opponent, as opposed to an opposing Warrior or Ninja, the user of the event must delegate which opponent they are targeting.
• Turn costs are individual, and you can only deploy an event/mission with a turn cost equal or less than your current turn marker.
• Time limit coins are removed at the beginning of the user’s mission phase only.
o Naruto and Dragonball still have different timing on when an event/mission is removed from play.
• Both players have use of events/missions on the field; however, an individual event/mission can only be used once a turn, unless otherwise stated.
o I.E. If player A plays Lone Wolf, player C can activate the effect, but player A cannot additionally use that Lone Wolf in the current attack phase.
• While both players have use of events/missions on the field, the user must be able to pay any costs that are associated with the event/mission.
• Permanent Missions = All Events.
o I.E. Any card that will discard a Permanent Mission can be used on any event.
Showdown:
• When planet damage is received, both players move the appropriate amount of plant damage to their planet damage area. This does not double the amount of Dragonballs acquired.
o I.E. If Team A receives 3 Planet Damage/Battle Rewards, both players A and C remove from their planet to their planet damage area 3 cards. 3 Dragonballs (total) are then placed on warriors.
• Dragonball placement can be discussed between players.
• Fierce and Thrash effect both players on a team.
• Teams can discuss which dragonballs to plunder when the plunder effect takes place.
• You can ONLY plunder Dragonballs.
Dragonballs:
• Dragonballs may only be placed on Dragonball Warriors.
• Dragonballs can be transferred to Naurto players by effects, such as Piano.
• You cannot pay a chi or chakra to move a Dragonball from a Dragonball Warrior to a Ninja. Including transfers between Earth Ninjas and Earth Warriors.
• You CAN pay chi or chakra to move a Dragonball from one Dragonball Warrior to another.
Wishes:
• Wishes are community, and are still restricted to 3 per team.
• Wishes affect the entire team.
o I.E. When Emperor Pilaf’s Wish is used, both players of the team remove 3 Planet Damage from their Planet Damage area to their discard pile.
• Only one with can be used per game.
• Upa’s Wish: Only returns one warrior total from either player’s discard pile.
• Emperor Pilaf’s Wish: Both teammates remove 3 Planet Damage/Opponent’s Battle Rewards to the owner’s discard pile.
• Existence of Hero: One player searches their deck for 1 card, and places it in their hand.
• Porunga of Planet Namek: Affects both on the opposing team.
• Shenron of the Earth: Each team removes the highest turn cost warrior to their deck and shuffles their deck.
• Frieza’s Last Wish: Only a total of 2 +1/+1 counters are placed on any of you or your teammates warriors.
• Revival of the Earth: Affects both teammates.
• Dende’s Wish: Affects all players.
• Oolong’s Wish: Affects all players.
Adventure Battle/Mental Power:
• Unlike individual games, Adventure, and Adventure Battles will take place in the following method:
o Any “Adventure”, including but not limited to Adventure Battle, Giru’s effect, etc. will be composed of both players of each team combining their adventure. The total of each team will be weighed against one another.
• Adventure Showdown will ALWAYS override Mental Power.
• All Dragonball CCG warriors have a mental power value of 0.
Individual Rulings: (On specific cards)
Dragonball CCG Individual Rulings
• Goku (Super Saiyan 3)’s effect “[Valid] This warrior gets +X/+0 where X is the number of cards in your chi area” is based off of the deploying user’s chi area at all times.
Naruto CCG Individual Rulings
• N-025 Naruto Uzumaki: “When this Ninja is in injured status and is sent out to battle by itself, it gets +X/+0, where X is the number of cards in your hand.” ‘Your’ hand denotes the individual who deployed the Ninja.
• M-013 Gato Transport: Affects ALL players on the field. Not a single player for each side.
• J-036 Crystal Ice Mirror: “The target gets -X/-X during this turn. X = the number of cards in BOTH player’s hands” ALL player’s hands are consider in the determination of X.
• J-056 The Third Eye “Target gets ‘Mental Power’ +X during this turn. X=’s the number of cards in your opponent’s hand”. The sum of your opponent’s hands =’s X.
• M-248 Selecting the Strongest “Each player selects 1 symbol. Then each player discards all their in play Ninjas that do not have the symbol they selected.” In this case, one symbol for Dragonball, and one symbol for Naruto can be selected PER TEAM. The effect then continues undisturbed.
• J-298 Shadow Clashing Palm Jutsu - Requirement: “Shikamaru Nara” + “Chunin “or higher Rank. Target: X number of ninjas in one of your opponent’s teams. Effect: “Give one damage to the target. X cannot exceed the number of cards in your hand - the number of cards in your opponent’s hand.” X =’s the sum of you and your teammate’s hands - the sum of both opponents’ hands.

I thought I would give this a bump, as I know we're seeing the new Crossover restriction list in a few weeks.
If you haven't tried this format out, I really encourage you to do so! The matches do not take a long time, because the game is so fast paced. I think most people will enjoy the ridiculous amount of techniques and jutsu that is tossed around in this format. It's really fun.
And for the Dragonball players, you are just as crucial in this game as the Naruto! Especially after next set, I think 2v2 Crossover Edition will be an amazingly high-paced energy-packed format. I really hope many of you will give this format a chance and play it. I know my locals love it!

Are you going to update this list with the new naruto restirction list.

Meh, I don't like the idea of the no rogue list. Even though it's 1 DB 1 Naruto on each team, basically the Naruto would be carrying the DB with a bunch of cheap cards that aren't banned.
Are you going to update this list with the new naruto restirction list.
Absolutely. But I'm not going to until all of set 5 is out and I can release both lists together. Until set 5 is released, I'll keep the latest set of Naruto banned.

I really have nothing to say other than "I'm sorry you feel that way". I feel that dumbing the game down to a very lack ****er level is more boring than a game that allows a massive amounts of technqiues and jutus to be played. Additionally, there is very little "Carrying factor" in this format. Dragonball warrior field presence has just as much impact as Naruto ninjas. Especially since many of the jutsus used are ineffective to Dragonball warriors, a lot more planning and strategy has to go into the game.
I really suggest you try playing it before automatically saying you don't think it'll be enjoyable. While I understand the mindset of "Naruto is so much more powerful", having the game balanced seems more enjoyable than "Let us ban 500 cards." But, to each their own. All I can say is to try it out. Whether or not you do so is totally up to you.

.
Well am saying there are some old cards they took off or added to the list that aren't set 14 wondering if those will be affected. Because now a lot of decks will be running 2-3 shino bug coin .
I'll have to look at it and have it playtested. See how the games are effected by the changes.
I've added some new updates, please look at the new adjustments, as they are effected by the wordings of many cards. The new adjustments are in bold.
Also, please note that Dragonball warriors are no longer affected by poison coins. If anyone has any questions about this ruling, I can only say that it's been proven through much playtesting. Feel free to comment on this here. (And yes, it is a blatant counter to Kankoro-Black Ant, makes it a lot less deadly in this format.)
Also, I'm hoping for a sticky for this too. I know the normal Double Battle has been stickied, pulling for Crossover Edition to be stickied as well.
New changes to the Rogue List. Expect another change in the coming weeks.
