Wasn't there JUST a new DBZ card game? With a red back that said Dragon Ball Z? I think just about a month ago I recieved a promotional pack from a gaming store to advertise...

That was Scores RE-Z and no, its been dead since June 2006.

That was Scores RE-Z and no, its been dead since June 2006.

It was good, tell the end when the curse of all Score games happens, and they make the same cards from older sets, but they are cheaper to play and have a way better effect.

I playtested the 2005 DragonBall Z TCG, so my opinion on the game is a little biased. Set 4 Revelation was an awesome set (just wish it would have seen an actual release, instead of a virtual set), and EVERY style was playable.
As for the original game, it was uber broken, but it was fun. With the power levels and the scouter, one on one battles (with allies getting in control of combat when you're MP was down) the throwing of attacks and blocking, angering up to a new level. Out of all the card games I've played, Score did an awesome job getting the game to really represent the anime to the tee.
As for this game, so far, from what I've read, it looks very similar to the Naruto CCG, which isn't bad, but I don't see how that represents the DragonBall property well. I'll save my final judgment when I actually get to sit down and play this new game, but none the less, I am excited for that day to come!

Thus far, in conjunction with the board members here, I've been able to decipher that the team system does reflect the DragonBall series. Our reasoning rests in the idea that allies are essentially teammates. Villains and Heroes both had their share of allies and therefor the team system does accurately represent the anime.
As for the rest, we can't really deliberate on it. When we get more information we can have this discussion again ;)

I was a fan of the original Dragonball Z TCG when it was released by Score... And with this new game coming out from Bandai, and already having the mechanics of Naruto down to a key, I'm certain I will become a fan of the new Dragonball Z CCG as well.
Though, to side with everyone else (because it's more than true), the Re-Z card game the Score made really sucked big time.

lets just hope its that way for techniques, as far as techniques go, I want to see a cool Big Bang attack, or final flash
