I'm just starting Dragonball.
What do I need to buy to get started and make a good deck?
What's the meta?
What deck should I try and build and can you give me a list to work off of?
Thanks in advance.

The cheapest thing to build is a mono villain deck about 50-60 bucks for the rough version and is one of the best decks in the format.
To get that either buy singles or buy from set awakening or destructive fury.

Yeah hes right mono villian is cheap and competitve....How ever it depends what you are going for. Super is still pretty decent and you could alway go and get the goku starter if you want to go that route. Of course unique is great too.Though anything can compete in the end even though personally I would stay away for earth if your new becasue its not really all that good.

Alright thank you both.
How are Alien decks and is the Mono-Villian deck you are refering to the RR Army/Android deck I keep hearing about?
I also was curious as to what the staples were I took a look at some decks and I'm seeng a lot of Goku (0 drop), Piccolo Jr., and Commander Blue are there any others?

Alien decks are good too....Thats What I run.....Yeah the android villian deck is a good one. Well as far as staples go that depends on your deck type though cell first form is pretty good.

Also I hope your referring too cell 2nd form because the 4 drop imperfect cell is horrible now.

Well I like them both however, yeah I guess ur right 4 drop cell really isnt that great but i still like to use him and he is easier to ge then 2nd form. But yeah 2nd form is better.

First off welcome to the game, always good to see new players:)
I would recommend a mono villain build right off the bat, and i whould also try diving into super earth. The Goku starter deck is a good way to get some really good cards at a good price (ranfan, cell, ect) i know i still have some trouble when my bro drops a t5 goku Starter rare and he has ranfan and cell backing him up
If your looking to get deep into the game, then i recommend the frieza starter, as it comes with captured and frieza t2, who is crazy. also, a rush deck can be made relativly cheap, super alien, give that a try
Once again, welcome to the forums and the game!

I've always been a fan of Super/Earth. It will get great support in the next set and it'll be very fun to play. It also has most of the main cast so that's cool.
Currently, if you want to go cheap and competitive Villain is pretty simple to build. Other than Cell [The 2nd Form], the rest is relatively easy to get. That Cell can be replaced with something else. Android 13 in the next set is an ok replacement but he's really ugly-looking. For now I like Android 17. He's got great stats. Nothing seems short printed in this department so making the deck should go smoothly. Focus on getting Set 2 and 3 if you want to try this out.
If you think you'll play Alien in the future, grab two Frieza starters. Captured is and always will be one of Alien's best cards. You'll want three to hold on to.
In general, getting starters just for the Wishes would help. Each set except set 2 has one Wish card so it's pretty limited. Each starter comes with 1 random Wish, 4 different ones in total. So getting multiple Wishes to pick from would be good despite the difficulty of collecting all 4 of the starter exclusive ones since they're random and you can't tell if you have it already from a sealed box. Bad mistake on Bandai's part but good way for them to make money...

I believe if you get a case of starters that will guarenttee one of each, it did for me

Yeah a case is a bit much but still you should at least get 1 or 2 starters becasue they are essenial to start. I mean if for nothing else you at least need some wishes

See what i want bandai to do is to come out with exclusive packs for retailers. Something they can sell that contains 1 wish, and then a few cards. Maybe charge 3.00 for them. Its not geared for mass market, and would give new players a chance at a random wish. Maybe exclude the ones from the sets though since they are still available. Kind of like a starter but not exactly.

It's always easy to trade for a starter-exclusive wish.
Why not just do that?

Yeah thats my plan at least that way I will get the wish I want.

I have plenty of Oolong's Wish to trade. lol
Plus, there are lots of people in the same situation as me.
Extra starter wishes to trade and nobody that wants them. =P
