I have played many card games.
Such as...
Yugioh
Pokemon
VS (Marvel & DC)
Magic the gathering
Naruto
and bought a starter deck to duel masters but didn't go further than that.
I would say that Dragonball is a very well balanced game and the game wont be over as quick as a few other card games that last a few minutes. the point is to get your best warrior out there and use their famous attacks in the show!
Ok here is a break down on each games weaknesses.
Yugioh - every time a broken card comes out it gets put into the broken deck. There is no theme based deck. Cards that say "destroy monsters" can go in any deck because they don't have specific requirements.
The fun level of yugioh is very low considering any fun decks you may want to make will be crushed by a Net deck which contains the most expensive cards out there ranging from 100 - 200 dollars a card.
Pokemon - pretty fun you have to bring out basic pokemon then evolve them a turn later and use the attacks printed on the card (there are no technique cards) the costs of the attacks are on the pokemon itself as well as the amount of damage they do. 1 pokemon can be sent out to battle per turn and the chi is not located in a chi area but placed on the pokemon that will use the attack. somewhat similar to dragonball but also has its differences.
Marvel DC VS system - every warrior has a turn cost such as 0 - 10 the thing about this game is that they heal themselves at the end of every turn, you may also team attack in this game. probably the closest game to dragonball/ naruto not created by bandai. you also use cards just like techniques which increase the attack by +5/+0
Magic the Gathering - one of the only games that is popular online as well as in person gaming. Every creature has a cost that must be paid for instance if a creatue has a cost of (2 fire) and 2 of anything which would be equivalent to SS Goku which has a cost of (2 super) to deploy. in this game creatures battle as individuals instead of a team and you could send out a dozen if you could bring them out fast enough. Kind of a balanced game but can be trapped pretty easily not making it very fun.
Naruto - Naruto is similar to Dragonball in almost every way except wishes, and turn cost techniques. Naruto games tend to be speeding up to the point to where if you don't have something good on turn 4 someone will lose. Things like that make the game go by faster and less fun. The longer the game goes on (to a point) the game will be more fun.
Dragonball is my favorite card game I've played so far and seeing all of my favorite characters in the show fight for me on the table is even more exciting. I recommend this for any Dragon Ball /Z/GT fan!

The Dragonball CCG card game is afun card game which have very intresting mech. As for being simlar to Naruto only the game system work the same, with the inclusion of wishes, charging from deck or hand, warriors going to chi, and becuse it dragonball seats it a part from the Naruto ccg.

I love bandai games. I love how much they strive to balance it out giving many different decks a chance. I love how they put up with us complaining and whining so much till I am sure they want to vomit. I love that their prize support and game in general is geared towards the local tournament scene. I love how they do their best to make WMAT championships and Regional Jonins in the case of naruto; accessible to all players not just the ones that can afford to fly out to qualifiers. I love their prize support and the effort it takes them to get the licensing to make it. I love that they don't corrupt or flood the game with massive numbers of Promos that are nearly impossible to obtain. I love that they don't do massive wide scale reprints on cards driving their prices down. I love that they have no banned list and try to keep all errata to a minimum so you don't purchase/obtain many cards that turn out to be worthless. I love the effort they take to keep broken cards to a minimum so that they do not have to have huge banned lists.
After having been burned by score in 3 different games. DBZ/DBGT, ReZ, and Inuyasha where they dropped the game because it no longer was the "Hot New Thing" I vowed never to play one of their games again. After playing Magic and having the deck that I spent time and money on become obsolete in the local scene, I vowed to never play it again.
So if bandai will come out with a solid play game with all of the above criteria. I believe all I can say now is Perfection! 10/10

When i first learned about this card game, it was on a internet search reminicing about the old Z. I must say, this turned out to be a great find.
Bandai has made a terrific game, there is no question about it. Currently, every deck has some chance of winning, and currently there are no true broken cards. Yes, there are types of decks that grow huge and yes there are some cards that are slightly overpowered, but over all Bandai has done a terrific job of making a balanced game.
Pricewise, i say bandai is giving the players a fair chance also. While i'm no proponent of spending wads of cash on cardboard, i feel bandai has givin the player enough oprotunity to make a competitive deck without supers. This will only prove to be true with all the great Rares coming out, such as Evil Buu, and Supreme kai.
One of the things i dont like about this game hhowever, is the support it recives. In my area, non of the chain stores have it, but thats because it's not at mass right now. Unfourtunantly, with the economy the way it is, it prolly wont get any better. It is up to the players to keep this game strong and to wether through this time, i believe that it can, moerso than WOW TCG, and maby even Pokemon.
Also, set 4 doesn't look all to promising. Looks like on of the weakest sets, but in a bandai way, thats aaverage for every other CCG.:)
All in all, I should prolly give this game a 8/10, but with all bandai did in the previous sets, giving life back into an anmie, giving us balance, and making some kickin' cards, i'll let it slide at a 9.1 A-
BTW, i may seem bias because i'm a DBZFan, and DBZ is the only anmie i'll ever watch. But this was a pretty unbiased review :)

I love this game, its awsome. I give it a 10.
save for two things.
one Red Ribbon Army and the players who run it, they are officially ruining the game for new and old players alike. seriously Stop it, or I will make you cry with my anti red ribbon wrath!
-I just built and playtested Anti-red ribbon last night and against 4 different rra decks I Stomped on 8 Games. (Its stupied to have to build a deck, so you can counter another deckstyle specifically and have room for nothing else - and I hate you rra players for making me do it)
Two, Bandai's Crippling of the main charicters of Dragonball, Super SHOULD NOT BE WEAK! BANDAI TAKE A HINT! Also REMOVE OPPOSING FORM THE BURN TECHNIQUES, EVERY CARD HAS OPPOSING AND SHOULDNT
thats it.
its a good game, I like it better then naruto, magic, or Marvel V.s.

What decks you like to play? Frieza is not a good starter deck but has some imported cards in there. Like Captured and the better wishes. Goku starter deck has also good cards Like Krillin turn 3, Ranfan, Master Roshi. I can't remember if I'm missing anything and If your going to buy 2, buy 1 of each.

I definitely agree with that analogy and it's shame that so much has happened with vs. system...I swear if the RRA had a mobilize in this game
WOW!!! the 5/0, you weren't mentioning savage beatdown by any chance??
I wanted to also add that the worst part of vs. was it was expensive (not yugioh expensive) and very hard to get all the cards needed to make the deck you needed (the sets were huge!!!) whereas dragon ball and naruto are less, but vs. isn't really worth anything now

are you a Goku fan or a Frieza Fan? your answer will be what starter to buy. Don't play the for power to win, but play for the sake of having fun no matter the out come of the game itself

when you get a starter deck, you get 1 or 4 random wishes. So you would just have to try your luck

It is worth getting 2 starters at least. You want to try and stay away from trading your super rares for starter "super rare" wishes.

Actually you get 1 out of 4 wishes and there set. It's not randomized and if I'm not mistaken I think Frieza start A has Pilaf's wish and Frieza B has Oolong's wish. Goku has the other 2.
