Team GTO Brads WMAT event report

Team GTO (Dragon ball) B.R.A.D.S WMAT tournament report.

Ok we start at around 7 pm Friday night only 3 of us going and only 2 decks working since J.B’s deck didn’t do well. Scribbles who wasn’t going at the time and helped us work on his deck. We made a janky Villain /Earth deck that was pretty good. After we left we got a call from scribbles that said yeah I am going now so I had to go pick him up early Saturday mourning. After that was settled finally Sephuji called me after trying to get a hold of him all day at 12:30 that night. So by the time we got back to my place it was about 1:30 and then at 6:30 we left to get everyone and headed up to brads. The most amusing thing was J.B had a recording of a “That’s what she said” thing on his phone. Which he played randomly on his phone during the event. We were expecting things to be much more like Naruto rules very strict. But throughout the event everything was very chill and Ari did an awesome Job during the event he is a very cool dude. So we get to brads a little after 10 am get our decks lists done and wait for round one to start.


Round 1: Scuba V.S. J.B

So yeah I have to play my own teammate first which sucked we didn’t want to Id round 1 so we played it out. But before that started Ari passed out a Chibi Choutsu to our table. Of course Scribbles was next to me so we all yelled “Look Vegeta it’s a Pokemon” god bless DBZ abridged.

So game one he wins the die roll we both end of hitting our curve I wish first using pilafs and he uses Friezas last wish on an android 19. After his final WMAT expired I was able to match him and I swing he then blocks I ECW his android 19 for the OV and got him to his last planet damage.

Game 2 didn’t go as well for him I hit a team of 12 on turn 4 with his team only of 7 still and he couldn’t recover.

Result 2-0 Round 2 Scuba V.S Cody

So this round I played against a cool Earth unique deck I give him mad props just for running Chibi bulma!! But he wins the die roll his turn one was bulma mine was Piccolo jr. I was able to rush early and put pressure on. Later on by turn 3 or 4 he wasn’t able to hit many drops after that and I was able to close it out without too much trouble.

Game 2 was the exact opposite missing my turn 2 and 3 ended up hurting me. Even with pilafs wish I wasn’t able to pull it out stalling as long as I could but eventually he swarmed with 3 big teams to overwhelm me.

Game 3 was pretty even but on turn 4 he sent out thinking he had the edge when I hit an evil forced organized on a lord slug that changed the game completing a huge team he had which he couldn’t recover from.

Result 2-1

Round 3: Scuba V.S. Andrew

All right so I play Andrew and by far is one of the most skilled players for his age I had ever seen playing mono villain. My other teammates later on the drive home even told me he would even count percentages on certain situations. I believe my team mates said something like are you kidding me dude you like 10!!

So anyways game 1 wasn’t too much of a match with Andrew missing 4 or 5 drops. I was able to get him in massive amounts of planet damage. Which he couldn’t recover enough and get a good team going

Game 2 I had to mulligan to 4 and I couldn’t keep up in the end with not having enough techniques to deal with mono villain. Game 3 we eventually went to time but hitting pilafs wish and resistance of the majin was a true MVP. Where on my last turn I was at 5 planet damage and Andrew was at 9 so I got the win on tiebreakers good match though.

Result 2-1

Ok so we did have 5 rounds but of how it worked out 4 of our 5-team mates all drew through out various rounds of 3-5. This ended up having all of us make top 8 cuts. Even J.B won out against all his opponents the rest of the day going 4-1. So in the end team GTO all made top 8 and we were all pumped. Grits and Gravy even called us and was laughing that we all drew for the most part to make it in.

So from what I can remember these were the tops 8:

1. Brandon: Mono Villain
2. J.B: Earth /Villain (team GTO)
3. Scuba: Villain/Unique (team GTO)
4. Sephuji: Mono Villain (team GTO)

So round 1 of top 8 I play Scribbles

Game one Scribbles missed so many drops and it proved to be something he couldn’t come back from. He couldn’t form a big enough team to take down mine or alien rush run for planet damage.

Game 2 was really close but Scribbles had a harsh rush and surprised me by negating my expanding vibrations, with one of his own and was able to get evil force organized to resolve hitting an early turn 4 super garlic. Eventually with the help of pilafs wish I stayed in the game and was able to have the better late game. I was one turn away using babbas effect to swarm with evil containment wave for the win. Scribbles hit me with captured and double stomping to swarm me for the win.

Game 3 was just as close as before and once again I had gotten Scribbles too 8 planet damage and was a turn away for the win when he dendes a hand of expanding vibrations, 4 witches x2, and ECW. He drew into captured and stomping and was able to get the win. It was a great match though and I don’t regret anything. We both said who ever wins this match will win the event and it did come true.

So the top 4 was:

Scribbles V.S. Ricky and David V.S. Andrew

From what I saw Scribbles won both games against Ricky fairly quick looked like Ricky missed a lot drops both games. Also a key evil force organized with super garlic tipped the scale a bit as well.

Top 2 was Scribbles and Andrew

I felt pretty good about Scribbles chances I don’t know how game one went but game 2 Scribbles had double resistance of the majin and Andrew playing mono villain couldn’t make a come back.

So Scribbles wins the first Florida WMAT congrats again man hope we do this well next time.

ahh made me blush lol. Thanks for the props it was a very pleasant event to judge. As far as Andrew goes he's actually 15 and trains with me all the time. His partner in crime is named juan (the red beast) and is equally as vicious at the game. I agree with you in saying expect a lot from these 2 younger players.

good tournament alot more ppl then i expected best parts were playing naruto vs ari and yugioh vs random man during the rounds worst was missing 3 drops each round vs scribbles and me with no emperor pilaf wish T_T getting 3rd was fine i still got more packs then i payed for, also best prize support ever i open my frist pack and pull ssj trunks then sell the other 10 to random man for 2 dollars each buying 5 packs of naruto and pulling The one that lives within, Zetsu, and that lame might guy super

Andrew, that looks like a 10 year old???? You are talking about Andrew Winters.. I think.. If you are.. yes he is a really good Naruto player. I actually lost to him at the Jonin last month. I beat him at 1 of the chunin's. He really is a great kid. Prolly future shadow member.

p.s. for those of you who beat me, I didn't understand all of the rules fully, so if I play you at another tourney I know how the game works better, and have tweaked my deck it is still the same concept but it runs alot smoother, and is 10x better. So if there is another tourney in fl or maybe the one in indianapolis, i might be there.

p.s. for those of you who beat me, I didn't understand all of the rules fully, so if I play you at another tourney I know how the game works better, and have tweaked my deck it is still the same concept but it runs alot smoother, and is 10x better. So if there is another tourney in fl or maybe the one in indianapolis, i might be there.

so i was at this wmat. I was wondering who I met and played. I was there with a friend and my brother who is a big fat guy with blonde hair. I was running a resistance of the majin unique/super/earth/alien type of deck. I beat mike ( if your on here im the one who swapped you passes). and a goku ss3 invasion of the planet deck. i lost to villian/earth (barely). Lost to an alien deck because i kept deckin out. And a villian/uniqe deck. anyway if this rings a bell I was just trying to figure out who from this site I actually met.
