View Full Version : Got a Quick Question...

Hello, I am fairly new to the game, started bout 3 weeks ago. Me and my friends are casually playing more often and so forth, but my real question is this, I see people talking about "this card is good for side deck". What I don't get is, in the rulebook, I saw no reference to the side deck, unless I'm just blind (which is possible :D). I wanted to know if there is a side deck and how many cards are in it, and I do know that you must switch the cards out in between the games and so forth.

Thanks in Advance,
- Super Android 17

You would be correct, there is no ruling the the rule book yet for "side decks." Set 4 is to be released right before the Dragonball Evolution movie and set 4 will have decks, so thus a revised rulebook.

Anyways, from what I know several Mejins use the side decks in their tournaments. Aside from your 40 card deck you are allowed to form a side deck consisting of 10 cards. Matches in tournaments are played in a best of 3 format. Both players must use their 40 card deck for the first match and if they want to swap cards from their side deck for the second and if needed third match, they can. Once the match is over you need to reset your 40 card deck to what it was when the tournament began.

Also, incase you didnt know there are two new rulings with "Ally" and "Thrash"

Oh sweet! :D

I wonder if they'll come out with more effects like Ally and Thrash with set 4?

how could a mejin allow side decks, I would see this as being the same as disreguarding a ruling on the forums. basically akin to making up your own rules.

The new guidelines are up.

They explain how to use sideboards.

Kim Logie confirmed that if Meijin wish to allow side decks then that is fine with her. Supposedly a Meijin has the final ruling on everything in their tournaments. Even if they are wrong, their ruling stands.

James Takenaka said a long time ago on Dragonball Radio's interview that he as surprised people weren't using side decks already. I'm fairly confidant that that's about as high permissions as you can receive to use ANYTHING in the game.

I looked over the tournament rules a couple minutes ago and there is a section for side decks. You can have a 10-Card side deck. There are stipulations on how you build it and how it is used. I don't want to type it all out so I'll let you guys read it on your own.

One interesting thing about it was that you can have 3 Piano in your side deck and have 3 Piano in your main deck. However, you can't side in 3 piano into your main deck from your side deck. Pretty useless info but I thought it was interesting.
