Does anyone else on this fourum think that the price is too high per pack? I think it is nuts paying $4 A POP for preimium cardboard. Does anyone else agree? I saw a ss vegeta sell for 35 bucks today, and i was wondering, who has that kind of money???

Isn't it a unwise decision for bandai to hike the price up? It scares away new players, and makes players upset. I only buy around 8 packs every new expansion cause it rings up 30+ or cardboard:eek:

And 70-90 bucks for a box? I remember scores game it was like 40 :(

Now obviously i love the game, i'm a senoir member, i've been on the fourums before the game was released, and i was the first (besides the naruto majin) to support this game. Please bandai, lower the cost of the packs, it will bring in new players, and give us old players a break.

Btw, i play a competitive mono villain with no SR's

There is no problem with the prices. It's the same price as most card games. Boxes are $59 where I buy them and they come with 3 SRs, unlike Score's DB game in which I never eeeeeeeeeeeeeeever got a SR and I bought like at least 3 boxes worth.

BTW: Bandai doesn't make the price of SS Vegeta on ebay.

 i know that, i just think it is silly paying so much for cardboard. I mean, yah it's fun, i support DBCCG 100%, but comon bandai, give us a break. I think it is scaring people away. Don't u remember Scores (I'm sorry i keep going back to it, but DBZ is the only card game i will ever play, and anime i will ever watch) the packs were like $2.50. iT IS almost 2X as much, does anyone else think this, or am i just crazy?

But in the old DBZ you barely ever got any good cards. At least you get 3 SR per box in the good DBZ ccg. :p

The stores are the ones you should be mad at. I know alot of places cheaper then $4. Bandai does not have power over local store prices.

I think the prices are fine. If you think about it, if you buy a new video game it cost as much as a box of cards. Yea its only cardboard but money is only paper and we all know thats what makes the world go round. The difference between this and a videogame is that a VG diminishes in value after a while but cards like these have potential to increase in value and you could feasibly walk away with a profit.

Cards may be cardboard, but Video Games are just plastic and they can break easier than cards.

dang it majin vegeta you stole my joke same on you :p

like he said cards may be cardboard but games and game system are plastic, it's not what it's made of it's the fun value that matters which makes it more then just cardboard.

Also yeah score game you can get a box for 30 but there is only 12 packs and ur is one in two boxes. (talking about the bleach game of course)

When the Economy gets better, the price of card packs will go down, simple as that. Also Villian is good don't get me wrong but if you think a mono villian from last set will be good against this sets mono villin, then well you going to be SOL in tournies when you lose to a super deck(yes super can beat villian for set 2) or a better mono villian deck/Evil Tribe Deck.

Well, it is not like they raised the price from last set, I mean most places shards of alara booster packs are $3.65. 34c less than bandai's this 34c probably covers the copyright use of the Dragonball names. I personally don't get into the story of magic, and have no intrest in the card game, for card game sakes. I do like Dragonball and Naruto that is why I play the game. If I must pay 34c more a pack for that fact I will. Yeah it is a lot for card stock but look at the actual price here. First you have to pay for the licensing fee for the dragonball and DBZ franchise, Then the designer fee for those cool new looking designs, the you have a production fee, then the shipping fee for the distributors then you have to pay handling for the warehouses and finally the retailers. All of this goes into the price. $3.99 is pretty competitive for an extra cost like licensing. I mean your definitely not going to pay less than about $3.50 for any card game atm.

if you want the packes to be cheaper, you will have to buy in bulk (boxes). Depending on where you by them, the price of a pack (if you get a box) is between $2.25 to $3.58.

Standard issue MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) for almost all CCGs currently are around $3.49(low end) to $3.99(normal). It has been this way for a good amount of time. Granted, several years ago, the price was lower (the $3.99 top end being around $3.50 instead).

Bandai is a business, above all. They have no reason to lower the price from what is considered the norm.

yeah, i agree. i also concur w/ those suggesting you buy boxes/cases. if you get factory sealed boxes, you will get 3 super rares per box. the key is to make sure you get factory sealed boxes. so try to find a reputable dealer. if you do that, you will get them for less per pack, and get super rares. i think that's a pretty good deal for us as consumers.:)

Of course, there are very good points to each side of this discussion.
I'm not gunna go all-out to explain, but just enough to enlighten some.

Keep the prices of the boosters and starters (Boxes too) the same!
Let's face it, $4 a pack is about average nowadays.
Regardless of how much Bandai pays to make the cards, they my as well keep it the same since that's the going rate.
Their games have been unique enough to draw in the customers and they're making enough money to meet the demands of the higher-ups.

Let's drop the prices a smidge...what do you say, Bandai?
We're in a recession (In the US anyways...give or take), give us a little love, Bandai.
Lowering the price could bring in more customers because not everyone can afford to play a CCG/TCG, or at least not competitively.
Price is one of the first things that people tend to look at when it comes to investing in a hobby and this game (As well as others) is a tad on the expensive side.

Well, those were just a couple reasons for both sides...hope that helps those that are unsure. =P

I like ur way of thinking. Here is the thing: Like you said, people look at price before they invest in a hobby. What better way to draw in new players than a great balanced game.........at a cheaper cost than other ccgs

A kid goes into a hobby store with 20 bucks. He can get started with yougio, Magic, WOW, or DBZ. He can get 7 packs of DBZ cards and only 4 packs of everything else. Which one will he chose?

But DBZFan, not all people are going to be drawn to DBZ right away. Look how populare the show was. And to those who did not wathc the show, Dragonball Z is a common term in the USA, and i can tell you, if i had to choose between DBZ or Some chaotic game, i would choose DBZ just on name reconistion.

DBZFan, new players just don't understand, they are noobs. Look guys, the thing that drew me into DBZ CCG first was name recontion. Then i scouted out the price and i was hesetanit to do anything. But then bandai made me a offer i couldn't refuse:

On launch day, they gave everyone who spend 20 bucks or more a free starter deck. This allowed for a great start. Bandai, that is why James Takahocka said set 1 sold better than set 2!!! Price moves people, both up and down!!!!!!!

Why thank you, sir. =P

You bring up a few more great points.
I remembered when I was young, before I had any money, I would choose what to buy depending on what looked interesting and was the cheapest.
When you don't have money, usually you will turn into a penny-pincher...usually.
