Frieza T2 SR Power Question

I have a question about the T2 SR of frieza. WIth the "if this warrior is defeated it is discarded instead"..does that mean if a warrior is not injured and in healthy status and gets defeated, does he go to the discard or does he go to injured status? And does the discard rule apply only to injured warriors that would normally go to chi but instead go to discard??

The warrior you give the +1/+0 he gets that for its text effect until the end of the turn. If the warrior with the bonus is defeated they will die and go to your discard pile not Chi.

Its a good card for a rush deck or some kinda rush deck.
