It stays in play. Some Events have time limits such as captured. Which mean they have a duration but invasion of the planet stays in play unless it is sacked by spirt ball. Events are like locations or ongoing plottwists for VS or like stadium cards for Pokemon.
You can play only 1 event per strategy phase. I am not sure if you can play multiples of the same event say in your next stragey phase. There is one event that isn't allowed to be duplicated (Threat of the evil tribe). I have read the rules book backwards & forwards but I haven't yet come across this ruling.
obv getting rules out of anyone on this site is like trying to brush a greased pigs teeth. I REALLY look forward to the comprhensive rules coming out.
further more does Threat of the evil tribe mean that your opponent cannot (duplicate the same card) as in play this card or just duplicate its effect. My best guess is that your opponent cannot play this card & you cannot play another one.

When it says "This effect cannot be duplicated" that means if theirs even 2 on the field only 1 will get its effect. You can play more then 1 that I remember, but it will cancel 1 of the effects and use the other 1.
